Piles are the result of swollen veins in the lower anus and rectum. They can cause tissue growths in and around the anus and can lead to significant discomfort. These growths can vary in size and location.

Treatment of Piles, Fissure & Fistula

What are Piles and how are they treated?

Hemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen and inflamed veins around your anus or in your lower rectum.

The two types of hemorrhoids are

  • External hemorrhoids, which form under the skin around the anus
  • Internal hemorrhoids, which form in the lining of the anus and lower rectum

How is an anal fissure diagnosed?

A look of the anus and a history are the main components of the clinical diagnosis of an anal fissure. The medical professional may examine the anus with a tiny scope called an anoscope if the fissure is not readily apparent, but this is uncommon.

All that is necessary for a diagnosis is the visual recognition of an anal fissure. Most of the time, no additional steps or testing are necessary.

A flexible sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy will be used by a proctologist to rule out other possibilities, such as cancer or Crohn’s disease, if a more serious issue is detected.
